ABC North Alabama is 15 Years Old!

Our Chapter had a birthday February 26, 2011!  To all of our wonderful members:  Your continued support and dedication to our Chapter is very much appreciated!  Looking forward to working with you for many years to come!

Turner Universal Named South Central Construction's 2010 Contractor of the Year!
After a month of accepting nominations from the six states in its coverage area, South Central Construction magazine has designated Turner Universal as its 2010 Contractor of the Year.  This designation recognizes Turner's investment in their people, innovation, and community involvement.  Additional criteria considered in the final selection included business leadership, industry involvement, safety and training.  Congratulations to Turner Universal.

Lee Company Named Certified Green Contractor By ABC

Lee Company was named a Certified Green Contractor by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). ABC’s Green Contractor Certification program recognizes construction companies that implement green practices and principles in the workplace, including headquarters, branch offices and jobsite office complexes. To achieve certification from ABC’s National Green Building Committee, Lee Company submitted an application detailing its green efforts and underwent a third-party onsite assessment.  Congratulations to Lee Company - the first member of the North Alabama Chapter to have the ABC Green Certification!
ABC AND the Modular Building Institute's (MBI) START Haiti disaster relief initiative began accepting $10 donations by cell phone. To contribute, send a text message with the word "START" to 50555. The purpose of the START Haiti initiative is to raise funds from ABC and MBI member companies and their employees to purchase, redesign and ship modular containers filled with medical supplies to Haiti. Nongovernmental organizations, including Volunteers of America Southeast, will set up the modular units in Haiti and deliver the medical supplies.

IN HONOR of its first anniversary, TheTruthAboutPLAs.com launched a new Facebook page. In addition to promoting it on their websites, chapters and members are encouraged to help ABC overshadow Big Labor's competing PLA Facebook page (which has about 800 fans) by "liking" TheTruthAboutPLAs.com Facebook page.
