ABC of North Alabama awarded three $2,000.00 scholarships to students furthering their education in the construction industry. Scholarship recipients are either an employee of a member company, or the child of a member company employee. Applications were reviewed and winners were selected by ABC National. Scholarships are awarded to deserving students, not based on their grade point average, but who ABC feels will make a viable contribution to the construction industry. Congratulations to the following recipients of the 2009 ABC of North Alabama scholarships:

Junior at Auburn University majoring in Building Science
Elizabeth Watson - Daughter of Jamie Watson with M. B. Kahn Construction
Freshman at University of Alabama Huntsville majoring in Mechanical Engineering
Justin Crow - Son of Brad Crow with Thermal Insulation
Freshman at Seminole Community College majoring in Construction Management
ABC North Alabama Chapter Receives Excellence in Community Service Award and the Triple Crown
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) awarded the North Alabama Chapter an Excellence in Community Service Award at the ABC National Convention in Honolulu,Hawaii.ABC North Alabama Chapter was recognized for leading the renovation effort of a group home for the mentally disabled. In nine days, 46 ABC member companies donated more than $100,000 in labor and materials for the project.
In addition, the North Alabama Chapter was recognized for outstanding membership activities and for membership growth in 2008.
